The parade will start 5:30 p.m. at Keaau High School and continues on Keaau-Pahoa Road through the village, where judges will be watching to rate the creative efforts of as many as 50 floats, marching bands and other units.
There also will be a Keaau Business Decoration Contest, which is a people’s choice contest. Community members can go to the “Keaau Christmas Parade” Facebook page, look at pictures of contest entries and vote for their favorites.
“This is the fourth year we will be entertained by the students of Nawahi Hawaiian Immersion School, at the main town intersection at 5 p.m.,” said spokeswoman Valerie Ferrari.
This year’s grand marshal will be Mayor Billy Kenoi.
Parade entry applications can be picked up at the Keaau Village Market, or by emailing info@whshipman.com.
